An excellent spot for a family holiday.

We spent 2 weeks there in February and generally the weather was fine with day time temps maxing out at ~30C. As it was out of season it was very quiet and that suited us. The spaciousness of the property was a big plus and the homes are all neatly kept and the natural bush unspoilt. The beach directly adjacent was easily accessible and goes on unbroken for miles but it is not really a swimming beach unless you are a very strong swimmer; playing in the shallows is fine. The introduced animals add some attraction and we also saw plenty of native species; look out for the Secretary birds (sagittarius serpentarius) they are awesome. Security was good and doors and windows were left open at nights without worry.

Very enjoyable

Our stay at Beachcomber Cottage in the Springerbaai Eco Estate was very enjoyable. Springerbaai is a quiet, natural setting where one can really switch off. The fact that it is really eco friendly further adds to the natural experience. Beachcomber cottage was well equipped, except for small items such as tea spoons – we could only find one. It is a spacious cottage with a good layout which will suit families comfortably for up to six people. It is some way to the beach because none of the houses are allowed to be built anywhere close to the dunes. The beach is safe and pristine and almost desolate. WE can really recommend the Cottages or anyone that needs to get away from it all.

The Beachcombers were absolutely fantastic. Ruth is a wonderful person and went out of her way to Make us feel at home. The house was wonderful and even our 2 children fell in love with it straight Away. Everything was spotless, and the cottage was more than fully equipped, ranging from electronic Bedside radio alarm clocks, all the way through to a washing machine. The nature reserve in which the Cottages are situated is beautiful and relaxing. We spent many hours on the unspoilt beaches, and whale Watching became a fascination daily experience. Beachcombers is definitely the place the recommend.

What a pleasure

Fully equipped home away from home with all the conveniences. The electricity issue was not a problem if you took the time to think about your actions and just enjoy each other. The solitude was refreshing and the house is family orientated - my toddler was relatively safe and free to explore. Brilliant stuff - a much needed escape from "civilization".

Beach all to yourself

A very peaceful time with an unspoilt beach literally all to yourself. The cottage is super and the eco-estate really tranquil so unwinding is not a problem!! Our first few days we had bad weather and found lots to keep us and the kids busy in Mossel Bay and the surrounds thereafter cricket and relaxing on the beach took over! Only complaint was the solar power had to be charged up (no sun in the beginning) so we had to be very careful with use of plugs and lights, but we can see this is not always the case.

Relaxing

The cottage is in a lovely location very tranquil within a relatively short walk to the beach. Mossel bay is about a 15 min drive away once you leave the reserve. The cottage is not overlooked but the site is developing so enjoy it now.
